The energy cost of using the BODY BAT® Aerobic Exerciser during walking
A study was conducted to determine the impact on individuals walking with a proprietary "physical exercise implement," using a prescribed "pendulum motion". The affected parameters recorded included weight loss, reduction in waist and clothing size, and improvement in overall fitness.
The Subjects studied conducted walking exercises holding the implement with both hands while simultaneously swinging the implement in a prescribed pendulum motion.
The Subjects walked four sessions per week. Each session lasted 50 minutes. The Subjects stretched before and after each session using the "physical exercise implement". The Subjects walked at their own pace ranging from about 100 to 130 steps per minute.
The data supports that weight loss, waist reduction and clothes size reduction increased when walking with the "physical exercise implement" simultaneously using the prescribed "pendulum motion."
The above are some excerpts from a study conducted by the "Health-a-Size® Fitness Center of Body Bat, Inc., St. Petersburg, Florida USA and presented at the Aging Conference 2000.
Additional studies are being conducted with various field tests to measure expanded parameters such as maximal oxygen uptake and maximal cardiac output, muscular strength, resting and exercise blood pressures, flexibility and bone mass.
